Does CBD Help Neuropathy?

Can CBD help with diabetic neuropathy? What is more, CBD can help with neuropathy. Millions of Americans suffer from neuropathy (or peripheral neuropathy) in the US.

The underlying cause of the condition can affect how symptoms are displayed. There are many treatments available for neuropathy. These include medications that affect the central nervous system, antidepressants and anti epileptics.

Counselling and diet are two of the other options for treating this condition. Then there is alternative medicine. CBD falls under this category. CBD, short for Cannabidiol is an extract from the Cannabis Sativa Plant. It has gained popularity because of its potential to treat a variety of health conditions, including neuropathy.

What is Neuropathy?

Peripheral Neuropathy (or simply neuropathy) is a term that describes a condition that affects the peripheral nerves. The nerves that extend beyond the spine and brain are called peripheral nerves. Neuropathy can be a serious condition and one of the most painful sensations that a person can experience.

When nerve function is impaired or damaged, it can cause sensation, movement, or organ dysfunction. It affects the body’s autonomic, sensory and motor nerves. It can often cause a range of symptoms.

There is alsodiabetic neuropathy. Peripheral neuropathy can be caused by injury. Diabetic neuropathy, however, is caused by nerve damage due to high blood sugar. Neuropathy can cause nerves to become confused.

They would then send the brain erroneous pain messages. This condition is described by patients as feeling numbness, tingling, burning, or shooting. Some people report pins and prickly needles.

Patients suffering from chronic neuropathy are limited in their treatment options to painkillers. Opiates have been the most popular form of treatment in the last decades. Medical cannabis, however, has recently been in the spotlight due to its ability to relieve chronic pain.

Cannabidiol (or CBD) is what gives cannabis its most healing properties. For a wide selection of high-quality CBD products that have been tested and proven to deliver health benefits, including pain relief, click this link

Risks and Causes

Before we talk about CBD’s ability to help neuropathy, let us first discuss the risks and causes of this condition. Neuropathy can be caused by nerve damage in many ways. This can affect the nerve axons or myelin sheaths, or both.

According to the Foundation for Peripheral Nervopathy or FPN, diabetes is one of the most common conditions that can lead to neuropathy. Diabetic peripheral neuropathy, which affects people with low blood sugar, is a common form of neuropathy. This condition is responsible for 60% of all people suffering from neuropathy.

Neuropathy can also be caused by cancer, but it is more common in those who have had chemotherapy. In the United States, 10% of people with neuropathy are caused by chemotherapy.

HIV/AIDS is responsible for about 2% of all cases of neuropathy. This is usually due to either the HIV virus, or the drugs used to treat the condition.

It is also fascinating to see that those without a known cause of neuropathy are the second largest group. They are known as idiopathic neuropathy peripheral.

Glucose Meter For Testing Blood Sugar LevelsNutrient deficiencies are another common cause of neuropathy. Vitamin B12 deficiency is a risk factor for developing this condition. This condition is common in people over 60 years old. A B12 deficiency could cause damage to myelin sheath, which surrounds and protects the nerves. The nerves will not be able function properly without this protection.

Neuropathy can also be caused by too much nutrition. Too much vitamin B6 can be dangerous for your nerves. Although the daily requirement for vitamin B6 is 2mg, many supplements containing 50 times more can be used.

What Can CBD Do to Help You?

CBD’s potential to treat neuropathy is one reason CBD is gaining popularity. CBD, a type cannabinoid is an organic chemical compound that confers medical cannabis many of its healing properties.

CBD is absorbed into the body through cannabinoid receptors. The Endocannabinoid System, which regulates various physiological functions such as memory, mood, pain, and others, includes cannabinoid receptors.

The same cannabinoid receptors are used in the treatment of neuropathy. Pharmaceutical drugs also interact with them. These drugs do not bind to the same extent as cannabinoids such as CBD.

These receptors are more easily binded to cannabinoids, making medical cannabis an effective option for patients suffering from neuropathy or similar conditions.

CBD interacts with the receptors of the body in a way that is more effective than traditional therapies. This can be helpful in situations where conventional treatments may not offer enough relief to compensate for side effects like addiction.

Numerous studies have shown that CBD is preferred by neuropathy sufferers not only for its effectiveness but also because it has side effects that aren’t as severe as those associated with opiates. Many people with neuropathy often mention how CBD has helped them in ways that pharmaceutical therapies have not.

CBD has been shown to be effective in treating symptoms such as anxiety, sleep deprivation and mood disorders. It also helps with pain. The same way, multiple cannabinoids working together creates an “entourage effect”, which dramatically increases medical efficacy.

High-quality CBD products are capable of providing such an effect. Green Roads offers full-spectrum CBD products. To access a wide variety of Green Roads CBD products, click here and reap the entourage effects described here.

What Research Says

Anecdotal evidence has shown that CBD can relieve pain. History also reveals that cannabis has been used for pain relief in many countries around the world for centuries.

Expert medical professionals have found that CBD can be safely and effectively used to treat a wide range of medical conditions including pain. CBD can be used to treat pain when no other treatment options seem to work.

Research also shows that CBD can reduce neuropathy symptoms in cases where it is resistant to other treatment options. Experts agree that CBD’s positive effects far outweigh its risks.

A study published in Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics journal in 2011 found that CBD and opiates can have synergistic benefits. Patients were able to experience a 27% reduction in pain when they received a regular dose CBD along with their prescription for opioids.

Canadian researchers conducted a study that included patients suffering from neuropathy due to HIV and other neuropathic conditions. The focus was on neuropathic pain. The effectiveness of cannabis can be compared with conventional medication often prescribed for neuropathic symptoms.

It was concluded that cannabis could be an effective alternative to pain management for peripheral neuropathy. Diabetic Neuropathy is the most common.

Conclusion

Neuropathy can be an extremely long-lasting or even permanent condition. As mentioned, neuropathy can cause severe pain. There are many options, but studies and anecdotal evidence show that some traditional treatments can have negative side effects. However, this does not mean that all available treatments are ineffective.

Green Roads Capsules These treatment options can provide real relief. There is growing evidence that CBD and cannabinoids from industrial hemp may provide relief in ways that traditional methods cannot.

CBD, for example, has been shown to reduce pain without the side effects often associated with pharmaceutical drugs. This is great news for many people suffering from neuropathy.

So, does CBD help neuropathy? As I’ve already mentioned, CBD can be an effective treatment option for neuropathy. It may also offer relief that other options might not be able.

It is a good idea to talk with your doctor before you consider using CBD for neuropathy. You can once you are ready, and you can start searching for the right CBD-based products that will help your condition.

CBD has been shown to be effective in treating neuropathy and other conditions. You could potentially be able to kill two birds by using CBD-based products.

When the peripheral nervous system is damaged the effects can be long-lasting and even permanent. I also know that traditional treatment options may have adverse effects. But those effects are known and a lot of research has been caried out on this topic. My personal opinion is that we should wait till enough studies are also caried also on CBD. Just my 2 cents.

CBD seems to have very good effects on so many different things. Can’t get it where I live sadly but hopefully some day. How popular is it in the states? I have always though it was illegal for some reason but I then noticed some serious IG people promoting it so I guess I was wrong!

    Anyways, great article!
