Can CBD Oil Get You High?

Inquiries surrounding cannabidiol and CBD oil continue to rise as the U.S. becomes more acclimated to CBD-based products. One of the questions frequently asked regarding CBD oil is this: “Can CBD oil get you high” This is a valid question since CBD oil is derived from the Cannabis Sativa plant, which we know produces a feeling of being “high.” In this post, I’m going to answer that question, plus more about CBD and CBD oil.

CBD Vs THC

Pure Broad Spectrum Green Roads CBD OilCBD is short for cannabidiol. It’s a natural compound that was discovered in 1940 as one of the 113 cannabinoids found in the Cannabis plant. As the second most active ingredient of the plant, it accounts for 40% of hemp extract. Speaking of hemp, CBD is mostly derived from the hemp plant and not marijuana. Yes, marijuana does contain CBD, but the CBD sold in the market today, such as those by Green Roads, are mostly derived from its cousin, the hemp plant.

One thing you need to understand about CBD is that it does not cause a “high” by itself. So there goes the answer. CBD and CBD oil does not make you high. If you’re still concerned, the report of the World Health Organization should reassure you.

It states that CBD does not exhibit any effects that indicate abuse or the potential for dependence. It also states that there is no evidence that the use of pure CBD has led to health-related problems.

So, why do many people that CBD oil can get you high? The answer is THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol. More specifically, the answer is that they think that since CBD is derived from a plant that is known for producing a high when smoked, then it follows that any product based on that plant will cause them to get high. In reality, it’s not CBD but THC that can produce this result.

Like CBD, THC occurs naturally in Cannabis. When ingested, THC hits the brain and binds with neurotransmitters associated with the brain’s reward system. When this happens, a sense of bliss is created. And another thing, CBD is derived from hemp and not marijuana.

Both are varieties of Cannabis, but the difference is that hemp contains 0.3% THC or less, while marijuana contains more. And yes, you guessed it—0.3% of THC is not enough to produce any psychoactive symptoms.

CBD Health Benefit

The question of whether CBD oil produces a high all stem from the rising popularity of CBD and CBD-based products. More and more people are beginning to understand that CBD could be the answer to many health problems plaguing humanity right now. But while many realize this fact, some are wary that they could get into trouble by using something that’s derived from a controversial plant, or more technically, variety of a plant.

But then again, we have already established that it’s THC, and not CBD, that produces psychedelic effects when absorbed by the body. just like THC, CBD has been found to have several health benefits, and one of these benefits is somewhat tied to what we’ve been discussing so far.

Several studies found that CBD may help with relaxation. When ingested, CBD can produce a sense of relaxation. You can even say that it’s a bit like feeling high. But the difference is that CBD is not intoxicating. It’s this effect of CBD that has helped scientists discover its potential for relieving symptoms associated with anxiety and depression.

People with epilepsy may also find relief from CBD. In 2018, the Food and Drug Administration approved the first-ever medication for epilepsy that’s CBD-based. This drug is called Epidiolex, an oral solution designed to treat seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome, two rare and serious forms of epilepsy.

CBD Oil Being Tested

Perhaps the most popular use of CBD oil and other CBD products nowadays is for the treatment of pain and inflammation. CBD oil is especially used by many people for treating pain related to conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, or even a simple headache. Apparently, CBD has pain-relieving effects.

Studies found that CBD helps in reducing pain by interacting with the body’s endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system or ECS is involved in regulating certain bodily functions, including appetite, sleep, immune system response, and pain.

Does CBD Oil Have Side Effects?

Anything that can be considered as medication has the potential for producing side effects. Can CBD oil make you high? No, that’s not one of the side effects of CBD oil. That said, CBD oil does have side effects. Many studies have already been done on CBD and its health benefits. Despite this, more research is needed for scientists to fully understand the extent of the possible uses of CBD and its effects.

If you’re concerned that taking CBD may cause side effects, rest assured that the World Health Organization has approved its use. This means it is safe for human consumption. There have been reports from some people that using CBD-based products has produced the following side effects:

● nausea

● dizziness

● fatigue

● dry mouth

● diarrhea

Keep in mind, though, that you will only possibly experience these side effects if you use CBD at high concentrations or in excessive amounts. To avoid any adverse side effects, see to it that you only take the amount prescribed by the manufacturer. And, just as importantly, if you are taking any prescription medication, consult your doctor first before using any CBD product. CBD may interact with the medication you’re using and may result in undesirable side effects.

How To Buy CBD Oil

Pure Hemp Being Picked And BaggedCBD is now legal in all 50 states. While that means you might find a local CBD shop near you, the internet is still the best place to start when you’re shopping for CBD oil. Before buying CBD oil, do your research first to fully understand what this product can and cannot do for you. One advantage of doing your shopping online is that you can easily compare brands and prices and even do some background checks on the company selling them.

Speaking of background check, one of the first things you want to confirm when buying CBD oil is whether the company is an original manufacturer or not. You have to understand that there’s something called “white labeling,” wherein a certain company would buy finished products, place their branding on them, and resell them. This is okay if we’re talking about shoes, clothing, or gadgets, but when it comes to CBD products, you want to make sure you only get from the original manufacturer.

The reason you want to get your CBD oil only from an original manufacturer, such as Green Roads, for example, is that it assures you that the product you’re getting is of high quality. And if you have questions, the company that sold the product to you will always know how to answer. That’s because they understand their product perfectly well.

You also need to be aware of what we call “full-spectrum” and “broad-spectrum” CBD oil. We’ve been talking about the possibility of getting high with using CBD oil, and understanding the type of CBD oil you’re using should enlighten you more. Full-spectrum refers to CBD products created using the same concentration of cannabinoids present in the hemp plant.

This means that aside from CDB, you’re also getting some omega-3 fatty acids, iron, calcium, and even vitamins A, C, and E. Does it contain THC? Yes, it does, but don’t worry, because full-spectrum CBD only has 0.3% THC, which is the legal limit. And if you’re wondering, no, it’s not enough to make you high.

If you’re really wary about the fact of having even a small trace of THC in your bloodstream, then broad-spectrum CBD oil is what you need. Unlike full-spectrum CBD oil, it’s made using a broad range of cannabinoids found in hemp. And no, it’s not going to get you high because the process in making this product has made it possible to remove almost all the THC. That means it’s as if it does not contain any THC at all.
